Hope’s big adventure

Our church family has been visiting one particular nursing home since our kids were knee high to a grasshopper. Our scheduled day is the third Saturday of each month. We go for an hour and sing with/for the residents. I use the word sing loosely. If it’s just a small group like we had last week (4-5 of us), the singing is pretty pathetic as most of us are not gifted in that area. When we have lots of people, it sounds much better. Luckily, the residents seem to enjoy it either way.

Over the years I’ve taken several different dogs and puppies to visit with the folks there. Some of the people just light up when they see a dog.

I haven’t actually been in a few months because of puppy duties or other things that have kept me away. But last week we decided to join the group and go for a visit. And who else should I grab to go with me, but little Hope.

She jumped right into her new “job” without hesitation.

567Yes, of course I’d like to sit on your lap!

Pretty cool when the rest home has Cavalier pictures in the rec room 😉

When our hour had ended we headed outside for a potty break for Hope.

576I don’t think she fears much. She headed down the hill towards the hospital and this big, noisy thing.

Then my son pulled up in his big, noisy truck and she marched right up to it. (Don’t worry, I was watching and didn’t let her get too close until he stopped.)

590Apparently, I’m just a large dog bed…

After we finished up there, our son took us to one of his favorite places in town to go for a walk, out by the golf course.

612And since somebody’s little legs couldn’t keep up, she go carried, a lot.

It was a Hope-filled day 😀

What is the verdict on Hope’s Cleft pallett? Is she going to need surgery? Is it closing on its own?
