Welcome and window shopping

I just wanted to say “Welcome” to all those new to our waiting list and the Pinewood Family! I know you are all anxiously wanting that new puppy to join you even though you have to wait.

But I’m glad you decided to go with us as the breeder of your future puppy even though you might have to wait a bit. We’re pretty sure that you will find the wait worthwhile.

I apologize for not getting my waiting list updated yet! We’ve had a family crisis that I’m still dealing with and will get it done as soon as I can. Please know, if I have received your application and application fee that you are “officially” on the list (even if it’s not posted yet. )

In the meantime, please sign up for email notifications from the blog/website and “like” and “follow” our Pinewood Kennels Facebook page (look for the apricot Cavapoo wearing sunglasses) so you don’t miss any updates! You can also follow us if you’re on Instagram and feel free to watch some of the videos on our YouTube channel while you wait. (Pinewood Kennels Cavapoos).

And for those of you that are still “window shopping” please know that we’d love to have you join our family, but there is a wait. I have many people that contact me and want to know if I have a puppy available right now; or a month or two from now.

I know, you’ve done your research, decided a Cavapoo is a great fit for your family and are ready to dive in! But unfortunately as more and more people are finding out about this special little hybrid, there becomes more of a demand for them.

Let me explain how things work a little for better understanding. We only have so many dogs, and certain dogs produce certain colors. A female dog will cycle usually twice a year (although I have one that only comes in season every nine months!) So depending on how often each dog is bred (we take that on an individual dog basis) we can only produce so many puppies. So let’s just make up a scenario; if you come to me in (we’ll just go with the current time to make things easier) July and want a puppy in October. That seems reasonable doesn’t it? I mean you, as the puppy adopter are giving me three months notice that your’e ready for a puppy. 🙂 Well, in order for me to have a puppy ready in October that mom (that can produce the color you want, but doesn’t mean she will) would have had to come in season and be bred in June, which would produce puppies born in August that would be ready to go in October. And you would need to be near the top of the waiting list to make that all come about; or be further down but have a lot of people pass for some reason; which does happen quite frequently actually!) :O I understand that some people don’t know the process or the time frame of a dog’s cycle, pregnancy and the weaning age; so I thought I’d explain a little bit. I hope that has been helpful. 🙂

So you can search somewhere else, but please be careful, there are more and more Cavapoo breeders out there as people find out how popular they are and want to jump on the Cavapoo breeding band wagon. I have just a few other fellow Cavapoo breeders that I would refer you to and they have just as long if not a longer waiting list than me.

Yes, I’m sure you can find a puppy sooner (and maybe cheaper) somewhere else. Please do you’re research. Are they health testing your puppy’s parents or just telling you; “we’ve never had a problem before”? Are they raising your future puppy in a kennel or a sterile puppy mill environment or in a loving, home environment? Does your puppy spend any time with enrichment exercises trying to give him the best foundation and start to his future adult life or do they spend day and night in the same pen? Are they there for you after you get your puppy home and you have questions or puppy problems?

Please know, that we strive to give you a healthy puppy. Yes, you may have to wait, but we think you’ll be happy you did! Our parents are health tested. Our puppies are born and raised right in our home and are never stuck out in a kennel. We start puppy enrichment in the form of Early Neurological Stimulation when your puppy is only three days old and continue training and socializing your puppy until it goes home with you. And when you get that puppy home and have questions, we are here for you!

Thanks for taking the time to read this and check us out, and thanks to those who have put their trust in us for their future puppy! <3
