Posted waiting list

I have decided to no longer keep the Cavapoo waiting list posted on the website. When new people come to our website and see the number of people they are hesitant to even inquire or get on it because of the numbers. They think we have to produce the same number of puppies on the list as the number of people before they get a puppy. In their estimation it looks like the wait could be two or three years down the road. So I have to explain to each new person that the wait time depends more on what they are looking for. For example, if they want an apricot/red female (our most requested color/gender) they might have to wait a year or so. But if they tell me they are only to color and gender and just want a Cavapoo, then I let them know the wait might be closer to six to eight months. Of course, all I can do is give an educated guess from past experience.

What they don’t understand is that a lot of people get on the waiting list and “sit”. We might have puppies available to those on the list, but they don’t reach out because we don’t have the color they want, the gender they want, maybe they’ve planned a vacation when a litter is due to go home so the timing is off or some other life change has come up. So these people are on the list, but not “active”.

Speaking of that subject, I would really like to clean up my list. If you have been on our list for a year or more and have not reached out as interested in one of our available puppies because you’ve had a life change, it may be time to get off the list. You can always get back on when you are more ready for puppy. We’ve had lots of puppies available (of different colors and genders) since we changed the puppy matching process and only about one third of the list ever reaches out as interested.

I have a copy of the waiting list on my computer and printed out in a binder. If anyone needs to know what number they are they can email me.

This will make things less intimidating for future, potential puppy adopters when they find us and are perusing the website.

Thanks!

I definitely agree that the list was very intimidating to see when I found your page about 2 weeks ago. I can’t wait to be able to get on the list once it is open again.

Hi Thanks for answering me. I will ask after the next group gets chosen. I am waiting to show interest in a litter until my number is closer to the top because I am hoping for a female white with apricot (Blenheim). Be well and safe. Amina.

We are in Vancouver BC – if we should be so fortunate as to get a puppy from you, do you have info about bringing him (lol) across the border? And let’s assume the dreaded covid is less of a “thing” by then. That!

Hi Jennifer, Perhaps a silly question, but am I on a “waiting to get on the waiting list” or do I need to reapply once it’s open and fill in the application of interest again after you reopen your wait list? I applied last week but it was already closed.

    • Pam, yes once we open up the list again, you’ll need to resubmit the applications to get on the waiting list. I’m not keeping any that come in while we’re “closed”:)

I apologize – please ignore my last note. I missed your other note informing about the new process. Sorry for the extra work! Defeats your purpose.

The list is very intimidating when you first get on it. My girls check it everyday so they’ll be a little sad not to monitor our name but I totally understand your reasoning. We look forward to the upcoming litters.
