They’re here!

Well, Joy missed all the good guesses we had on our Facebook “guessing game” about when she’d have her puppies, how many and what genders. We had one person guess the right genders/number but was off by one day. Pretty good guess, just the same.

I’d like to add, I think dog’s should be required to have their puppies in the daytime!

Joy’s  temperature was down Tuesday morning and she started to get a little restless, all signs that pointed towards an upcoming delivery. I was a bit worried because that was the day I had an appointment in town to meet the pilots who were picking Wonton and Egg Roll up. Thankfully, I was able to get to town and back with nothing happening (as hubby kept me posted from home).

The day wore on and nothing spectacular occurred although she was nesting more and obviously a bit uncomfortable. That night, I dozed off on the couch next to her trying to get a bit of sleep as she whined, dug in the papers I had put in the crate and was generally restless. I kept peeking into her crate to see if anything was happening, but each time she just stared back at me. I dozed off again and was awakened by one “yelp”! Finally, the first pup had been born.

After that it was down to business steadily delivering each new life.

We ended up with four puppies; three girls (apricot) and one red boy.

And then she settled into mother mode to take care of her new brood.

All the pups are doing well and gaining weight!
