Next to enter the maternity ward (aka living room is little Lyric.) I can’t believe she’s all grown up and going to be a mother soon! And I’m super excited to see what colors we get. We’ve never had such a flashy blue merle Poodle produce a litter before! (Sage and her mom Lucy are merle, they just aren’t as “flashy”).

Lyric is a merle but is considered mismarked (or a parti-carrier) since she has a white spot on her chest. One of her parents was solid colored and one was a parti which is why she has a bit of white on her. What do I mean by “parti”? A parti dog (the word is mostly used in the Poodle breed) is a white base with colored spots. Dickens (if he was a Poodle) would be considered “parti”, but since he is a Cavalier and is one of the four normal Cavalier colors its just called “Blenheim”; white with chestnut spots.

So we could get parti puppies (what I call cow puppies) or solids with bits of white on them (mismarks or parti-factored).

Bath time

All clean but I couldn’t clip her because none of my (three!) clippers would work!

She will be sixty-three days from the first breeding on Thursday (which is dog class). I’ve been monitoring her temperature. I was thinking of attending Tuesday night’s class with Asher instead of Thursday’s but her temperature was significantly lower yesterday evening so I stayed home. Time will tell if Asher gets to go to class at all this week.
