Getting Your Puppy Home

We’re happy you have chosen a Pinewood Puppy to add to your family!

We do not ship our puppies which means we get to meet each one of you personally! 🙂

Each litter has a posted “Puppy Delivery Day” on the litter album’s page on the website. On that day, as a courtesy, we will meet each family that is getting a puppy from that litter in Spokane to personally hand you your puppy. This will cut off about 2 hours for those coming from the Seattle or Portland areas instead of driving 2+ hours more to our home.

• If you are coming from a distance you can fly into the airport* (Spokane International Airport, Spokane, WA-GEG) for your Puppy’s Delivery Day or…
• You may drive to the airport for our meeting.

Puppy Delivery Day is always a Sunday morning. Our normal routine is to meet everyone as a group at the Wingate hotel (at the airport). The hotel is a nice place to stay for those wishing to drive/fly in the day/night before. The meeting takes about 1-1 /2 hours depending on the size of our group. During that time we will go through the puppy packet of information, your puppy’s health record, answer questions and get “family” photos with your new puppy.

We want all the puppies to go home at their scheduled time if at all possible. (That’s why we ask people on the waiting list to reach out with interest in a certain litter if it fits in their schedule.) If you are unable to meet on your Puppy’s Delivery Day and the puppy stays longer with us (Please don’t “assume” we can do this for you. It’s on a case by case basis.) there are extra fees since we will continue to work with and train your puppy. You will also have to make arrangements to drive to our home to pick up your puppy or if it works in our schedule we may be able to meet you in Spokane. (Extra fees will be included for boarding/training and a delivery fee for another trip to Spokane. If you’re puppy requires a health certificate (for those out of state or in Canada) and the puppy stays longer than 10 days past the pup’s initial vet exam (a health certificate is only good for 10 days from the vet’s exam) there will be an extra fee for another trip to our vet (as it’s over 100 miles round trip and will take several hours out of one day).

*If you are flying in; the puppy will be able to fly back with you in a soft carrier under the seat. You would be in charge of scheduling you and your puppy’s flight/s, and purchasing/bringing an airline approved soft puppy carrier. Please contact me before scheduling your flight to make sure it coordinates with our puppy delivery day schedule.

Every puppy crossing state lines is required to have a health certificate (whether flying or driving). The airlines normally do NOT require a health certificate if the puppy is flying in the cabin with you, but because of crossing state lines we’re required to get one for the puppy.  If the puppy needs a health certificate, I will take care of it at the puppy’s vet exam time. ($60 charge).

***Please be aware that some airlines are changing the age of puppies that they allow to fly in the cabin. This, unfortunately, has been brought on by people flying with “fake” service animals. Not all airlines (or even airports) are the same. A while back we had someone flying on United who was told on their outgoing flight from home (a large airport) that they couldn’t bring their puppy on the plane unless it was 16 weeks old (this was before they flew here to pick it up). But they came anyway as everything was already scheduled for THAT day (nothing was said when she booked the ticket weeks before about any age restriction). She came, picked up her puppy, checked in at our Spokane airport (a smaller airport) and flew home without issue.
