Well, I was going to get new puppy pictures of Rosieās babies tonight. āWasā is the key wordā¦.
I left this morning for an appointment in town after everyone (Iām talking furry ones š) were fed,, watered, given new beds and had clean litter boxes. After my appointment, I had some errands to run and shopping to do. We have company coming this weekend, so I sorta had to make sure there was food in the house. š
I didnāt get home until this evening and knew the dogs Ā would need to go potty and puppies would be dying for attention. So before I unloaded the groceries, plants and potting soil, chicken and horse feed from my truck, I let moms out, set up the kitchen play area and hauled Julesā and Allieās pups downstairs. Then moved the play area that was outside in the yard (my husband was busy mowing the lawn so I had to get it out of his way). After that, I Ā made three trips up and down the stairs and put Rosieās pups outside to run and play.
Before I headed back out front Ā to unload my truck, I stuck the pizza in the oven that I had brought home from town to celebrate my husbandās early āretirementā. (Thatās a whole ānother story š®).
As I got out front to unload, I happened to glace up at the western sky towards āRainy Ridgeā (thereās a reason it has that name) and noticed a blackening sky. āOh noā, I thought, āIāve got to get the stuff out of the truck before that cloud gets over us.ā So I hurriedly starting unloading the truck. I was almost finished when I felt the first raindrop. Hubby and I got the rest unloaded and quickly headed into the house.
As I stepped into the laundry room, I heard the oven timer going off so I opened the door, reached around the corner and hit the button to shut it off. Then remembered I had puppies outside!
I ran out the back door (thereās a back door off the laundry room at the bottom of the stairs going up to the puppy room). Unfortunately, there are no stairs out that door yet (add that to hubbyās āhoney-doā list), so itās a big step down and up each time. I ran to the puppies, opened the exercise pen up and starting grabbing one at a time and shoving them back in the house (loose in the laundry room). I hadnāt gotten the first puppy inside when the deluge hit! It was pouring. And of course the way our house angles come together, it gushes off the roof right around that back door area. I was soaked to the skin in under a minute. You can imagine what all the puppies looked like by the time I got them in the house. (Thatās why I said, IĀ wasĀ going to take puppy pictures. The pictures would have looked like drowned rats instead of fluffy, cute puppies). The Brady bunch got dried off and settled back in their playpen, then I headed to the kitchen.
The kitchen. *sigh* Julesā and Allieās puppies apparently had a memory lapse while I was busy and there were a couple ādepositsā on the floor. Now that wouldnāt usually be a big deal, because I would quickly pick them up. But when you have been preoccupied with other things and leave the puppies alone for fifteen minutes, a lot can happen. Think along the lines ofĀ finger paintingā¦ā¦..Ā (sorry, for the gross visual, but you get the picture.)
I grabbed my handy disinfectant wipes (remember my best friends post?) and attempted to wipe up the mess quickly. Sure Jen, youāre going to lean over and just wipe up the floor with eight puppies clambering all over you for attention. š
Hubby and I quickly scooped up the puppies and placed them back in their puppy pens. (So much for a nice playtime). And I proceeded to clean the floor a bit more thoroughly.
Then it dawned on me that the moms and Hope were still outside!!
I grabbed a towel and headed to the back door, trying to let one in at a time so I could towel them off. (My rug at the back door now needs to be washed for some reason). Then moms and I charged up the stairs to be reunited with their howling children.
āHoney, itās time to eatā. Finally everything was taken care of so we could sit down and enjoy our special dinner.
Yeah, remember earlier when I had reached in the kitchen door and turned the timer off? Well, I forgot to turn the oven off too. *sigh
My life; comedy or tragedyā¦..
Iām going with the comedy, ācause all you can do is laugh!
