It’s April! You know what that means? Time for school; dog school that is. 😉
Our local dog trainer starts her spring classes each April. I try to take at least one dog through class each year. Sometimes I sign up for the second session and do another dog too! I’m a glutton for punishment. (*whispers* actually it’s my weekly “therapy” night to get away and do something fun).
I signed up for the class about a month ago, figuring I decide which dog as class got closer. Well, class started last Thursday. Nothing like waiting until the last minute! I’m running dogs through my mind trying to decide who to take.
And decided on this silly girl! Summer <3
She’s still young and has much to learn. She’s sweet and silly, but not super confident out and about so I thought she could use some class time.
I really wasn’t sure how it would go as she’s not super great on leash. My fault of course, but when you live in the country with a big fenced-in yard, leashes don’t get used a lot.
She kind of did a slinky, crawl along the ground position at first; not sure of the leash or her situation. But with a lot of treats and encouragement I could see a big difference by the end of class. She had become more comfortable and confident and she was enjoying herself.
She absolutely loved the thick, freshly cut grass and kept rolling and sliding across it. It was hilarious!
