In the meantime we’re filling the babies with love, attention, fun and learning!
Winter and her puppies have moved up to the puppy room where there are more toys and fun things to explore and more room! This also make. things easier as Winter starts to have bigger breaks away from them.
They have two litter boxes now and their first crate to sleep in. YOu’ll notice the litter boxes are right outside the door of the crate. Since this puppy pen is bigger than the one they just moved out of, I want to make it easy for them to still find the bathroom! They can get up from naps and just walk out to potty.
In a week or less, I will move the potty boxes to the back righthand corner of the pen farther from the sleeping area. By the time they go to their new homes, they will be very accurate about using their litter box to relieve themselves. This is something their new owners can utilize and continue to use even while potty training them to the outside.
When they are out playing, I’ll start with a small play area and the litter box close by. As they mature and become more accurate with the box (yes, they do miss sometimes) they will get a bigger and bigger play area. Then I will have several litter boxes around the outside of the play area for easy access.
