It’s pudding time!

I don’t make pudding for every mom or every litter. But after Gracie delivered a very large litter early Saturday morning I knew it was time to whip up a batch. She was going to need the extra fat, protein, and calcium to keep her weight and energy up!

This adorable little red dog easily whelped a litter of seven puppies in about two to three hours! I say “two to three” because honestly, she’d had a restless night with alternate bouts of nesting and digging in her crate (I would get up to check and nothing) to quiet times and I actually missed the first two births! I woke up to baby puppy cries and jumped off the couch to find the first two pups all cleaned up although still a bit wet.

(The pudding bowl is licked clean!)

She is an attentive little mom and two days later the pups are all doing well and gaining weight. We have one smaller one, but the rest were all around the same weight, and good weight I might add for those size of litter.

We have five (yes, five!) pretty girls and two handsome boys! <3
