I might have found a new puppy. I might have fallen for her. I might have visited the breeder to meet her and her parents. I might have bought her.
Okay, okay, so it’s surer than that! I did do all the above.
We have added a beautiful blue merle miniature Poodle girl puppy to the family!
Isn’t she precious?! ❤️
That bad part of all of this is we have to take extra precautions whenever we bring a new dog or puppy home for the sake of all of our current dogs and puppies. We do a health test on any new dog or puppy that is brought here to make sure they are clear of a certain deadly doggie communicable disease, have the dog examined by our veterinarian, de-worm it and check a stool sample (if we can get one!) and then quarantine the canine for the time our vet recommends before introducing them to the household.
This was at the vet after they poked her with a needle. Not stressed out at all!
“Mom, was is that big thing?”
“It’s getting closer.”
I really dislike quarantining a pup by itself for several days before integrating it into the family. But it’s something we have to do. So puppy had her own playpen in the garage where I would wear a specific shirt to hold and love her. I introduced her to the litter box and we started clicker training. She loves cheese! I would also carry her off the property and up to the neighbor’s to let her run in the field and get fresh air and exercise too. And we took her with us Saturday to the rest home to sing for the residents. (No, she didn’t sing). 😉
But her quarantine is over! And she is slowly getting to know some of the other dogs. And hopefully, someday she will grow up and give us some beautiful merle Cavapoos and purebred Poodles!
