Asher

Finally!

I know, I’m a dork. I spend too much time looking for the “perfect” name for each pup that becomes part of the family.

It’s fairly easy when I give each litter a theme and name the pups. We can be silly or serious, because most likely each family will choose their own special name for their new puppy.

But when I’m christening a new pet that is going to live with that name forever I like it to be special. And as I mentioned before each purebred dog is registered with a longer, fancier name starting with our kennel name (Pinewoods) or the kennel name of the breeder that the pup came from, and then I like to give them a “call” name or everyday name that we use that goes with the registered name.

And having a background with showing dogs and doing obedience, the call name needs to be short, one to two syllables is best. I always practice in my head with the name and “come” to see how it flows and if I can say it without getting tongue tied.

I just want to thank everyone that has helped by suggesting names. I really appreciate it! It helps my mind to get going and think through lots of different options.

But I’ve finally decided on one. I like it. It seems to fit him too. His name is Asher.

Asher is a biblical name meaning “happy” (fortunate; blessed). He is definitely a happy, little guy. Honestly, I don’t know too many Cavaliers that aren’t. 😉

Asher was one of Jacob’s sons by Zilpah which was his wife’s handmaid. Even people mentioned in the Bible didn’t always make great life choices. But Asher was still assured a life filled with abundance.

I’m hoping our little Asher will have a life blessed with abundance and happiness!

Here are some fancy names I’m mulling over, let me know which one or if you have one along this theme that sounds better;  Pinewoods Abundant Life, Pinewoods Blessed With Abundance, Pinewoods Happy and Blessed, Pinewoods Abundantly Blessed, Pinewoods Promise of Happiness, Pinewoods Promise of Life, Pinewoods Abundantly Happy, Pinewoods Promised Blessing.
