Puppies will usually start sniffing and nosing around mom’s food dish (which we keep filled with puppy food) around three to fours weeks of age.
Sky’s puppies started that this past week so I have been soaking her food with hot water so it becomes soft and easy to “gum” should the pups want to nibble on it with their limited amount of baby teeth.
They really don’t know what to do with it at first. Sometimes they lick the air near the bowl, or lick the outside of the bowl. It’s fun to watch as they explore with their little, pink tongues. It doesn’t take long and they start lapping at the broth in the dish. And then lick each other’s faces.
So cute!
