One week old

In just one week Gracie’s puppies have gone from teeny newborns to chunky, strong one-week-old Cavapoos.

I don’t have collars small enough for newborn necks (I like to identify puppies at birth so I can weigh each one twice a day at first to make sure everyone is gaining weight) so they each get a colored ribbon. But before these guys turned one week old I had to take the ribbons off because they had grown so much and give them small paracord collars with teeny buckles.

Their birth weights started at between 6.7 ounces up to 8.1 ounces. At one week they are between 15.4 ounces and three are now over one pound!

Of course their eyes and ears are still closed but they are moving around the whelping crate to get to mom when they’re hungry and we’re doing our daily ENS (Early Neurological Stimulation) with them.

And they got their first toenail trim. (We try to do weekly toenail trims from one week until they go home).

Such cute little chunks!
