Four weeks ago

Four weeks ago (yesterday) Shiloh had her beautiful litter of Cavapoos! They are doing well and doing everything four week old puppies should be doing. They are using the litter box so well (and because it’s such a big litter), I have changed them to the regular litter box.

So around three weeks is when we introduce them to the UGOdog litter box (which has a flat plastic tray with grates over the top). It’s about the same height as their bed so they toddle off their bed (because puppies naturally don’t like to soil where they sleep) and onto the litter box.

Now that they’ve figured out where to potty and since they are pottying so much, it’s time for the “real” litter box.  It’s a large plastic rubbermaid-type container with a then layer of pine pellets on the bottom to absorb the urine. Poop is easily scooped out with a cat litter scoop. And since the pups are still little, we have cut the side down on this first box to make access easy. (When pups are older and bigger they don’t need the side cut down as they can easily hop over the edge).

Once they are accustomed to this litter box, we will move them up to the puppy room because they are fast outgrowing this puppy pen! And mom is wanting more and more breaks away (which is totally normal).
