Having Kit Kat and Snickers here after all the Sky pups went home has been entertaining. They sure have fun together, sleep together, play together, and argue together. But I got to thinking of how much work a puppy is. And two puppies is even more work and training (although it’s nice when they have a playmate).
I had mulled over the idea these past weeks about keeping a male from the litter. Dickens is still producing but getting close to retiring. I have Asher, the pups dad who is amazing and we have young Nico who we haven’t even married off yet to any of the girls. But I justified keeping Snickers as “back up” since his grandpa is so close to retiring. And he was so “perfect” <3
But the more I thought about the business of life, the dogs, the current and hopefully upcoming puppies, the garden, blah, blah, blah….I though if a perfect opportunity came up that I might let him go.
And it did.
A lady reached a few days ago about Mars (who had been matched since she heard about him). Her friend who had bought one of our Poodle puppies from Sky and Clancy’s litter told her about Mars when we were looking for a home for him. Her family has had several Cavaliers and just lost their 14-year-old Cavie just a couple months ago. It sounded like just the right home had popped up. So I decided to let Snickers go to this amazing home.
Our plan we to meet in Spokane next week and hand off Snickers to his new family.
And then life threw a wrench in the plans. On Thursday my elderly father (who lives in his own little apartment at my brother’s house) fell and broke his hip! He was rushed to the hospital and underwent surgery later that afternoon. As of this morning (I’m writing the morning after his surgery) I can report that the surgery was successful, but he still has a long road ahead. So now with the possibility of me having to travel to be with him, I reached out to Snickers family-in-waiting to see if we could meet earlier than next week. The last thing I wanted was for hubby to have to worry about that along with taking care of the rest of the crew if I leave.
Snickers owners graciously offered to drive over Thursday afternoon to pick him up at our house. It was a long drive and she didn’t get there to until really late. I felt really bad for her and her friend. We spent a while going over puppy info and then they headed into town to find a motel for the rest of the night. (I got an update the next morning “We made it back to Seattle safe and sound. We ended up driving through the night. Puppy did perfect. He now has a new name. Sir Winston Percival of the West Seattle Percival’s. Thank you for everything and raising such a sweet boy”.)

Looks like a perfect match. <3
