Well, another boy has officially retired!
Sundae has now entered the life of leisure. Not that he really “worked” for a living….heehee. He sired a few litters, but I really wasn’t using him for fatherhood much anymore. And with his talent of climbing fences, it was always a worry when one of the girls came in season.
I either had to hang out in the yard with the girls when they were outside to make sure he didn’t join them, or the girls would go outside when he was inside or visa versa.
We still have to be careful for a few more weeks having him around the girls. But once we know things have healed and he is unable to sire any puppies, he’ll have the run of the farm and get to do whatever he wants. He will likely climb the fence from the boy yard and hang out with the girls or he’ll climb that fence and just park himself outside of the girl yard as sentinel.
And the good thing is, he will still likely alert me to when one of the girls comes in season without me having to worrying about any unplanned pregnancies. Win-win!
Welcome to retirement, Sundae.

Wow, he’s had a good run. I remember when you got him and were deciding on his name. Happy retirement Sundae!
Thanks😊
