A few firsts!

Yesterday was the day! Was it warm? No. Was the ground nice and dry? No. Was the sun shining? No. But we decided to venture outside anyway!

I love taking puppies out into the garden because it’s a large, fenced-in area (although I didn’t let them too close to the fence because they are small enough to get through the squares in the fence). And there are all the raised beds, plants, trees and such for them to explore and investigate. It’s the perfect puppy adventure spot!

They had their second wagon ride with the big dogs sniffing as we went. When I put the crate on the ground and opened the door, there was a pause. Most puppies are a bit tentative when they venture to the garden the first time. But they slowly (or quickly in Flurry’s case) migrate out of the crate and start exploring. After Flurry, Blizzard came out fairly quickly. The other three were pretty comfortable in the crate. But eventually Storm stuck his nose out the door and decided the outside looked pretty fun so he joined his brothers. Now it was just Snowflake and Frost in the crate. I sat nearby and waited, encouraging and calling them. Finally Snowflake just couldn’t stand that her brothers were out having fun and decided to join them. And it wasn’t long after that Frost decided he wanted to be part of the garden party also!

And once they ventured out of the crate, they went all over the place just having a blast!

At one point, we slowly walked over to meet the chickens, but Storm got lost behind the big water tank so we went back to join him because he couldn’t find us and he was getting worried.

And then it started to sprinkle. But the puppies didn’t care one bit. They continued to play, run and just enjoy themselves.

Then I opened the gate and asked Cajsa to join us. Cajsa is so good and patient with our little puppies. She’s the perfect big dog to introduce the puppies to. They jump at her face and pull on her tail and she patiently puts up with their antics.

So we had a lot of firsts on this adventure. First time outside. First time feeling rain. First time hearing and meeting the chickens. First time getting up and personal with a large dog. First time exploring the garden. They did great!
