Busy, busy!

I’ve been off the radar because we’ve had an extra busy week! The Cavalier puppies are growing, learning and doing well. Their little personalities are fun to watch. Daisy, is definitely the leader of the pack, bouncy and outgoing just like her mom. But Luke is right behind her, an adventurous little boy, and Bo is the quieter, milder temperament of the three, similar to Shiloh’s dad, Asher.

They are completely weaned off mama now and tucking into that puppy food dish three times a day. They’ve had lots of exposure to the crate/carrier between the wire crate, the plastic one and the small soft travel carrier that I squeeze them into to transport them from the house to the garden for some playtime. The weather has been good so we’re all enjoying being outside as much as possible.

The humans have had a busy week preparing, moving and settling up things from the grandparents house for an estate sale in town. We live too far out to have a successful sale in our neighborhood. So we’ve (us and my SIL) had to make trips to town everyday since Tuesday to haul things in, unpack, set-up, price items and be there for the sale. Although my SIL is the leader of this venture and we’re all relying on her to negotiate and help with pricing. This afternoon we have to go back and haul home anything that didn’t sell and that the Goodwill won’t take.

And smack dap in the middle of the week, my bestie came home for a visit. That was an adventure in itself! I was supposed to pick her up at the airport at 8:30 pm on Wednesday. I helped with the estate sale a bit in the afternoon and then headed to Spokane mid-afternoon thinking I would hit Costco and a couple other stores that I hadn’t been to in a while before picking her up later.

Well, on the drive down she let me know she had arrive safely at her layover airport. Then while we were chatting on the phone, she got a notification that her flight was delayed for an hour. Now pick-up time was moved to 9:30pm. Ugh! I can’t shop that late, so what was I going to do?

Well, the news continued to get worse. She got another notification that they now weren’t leaving until 10pm! So that had her arrival into Spokane at midnight! Argh! Air travel these days can be frustrating!

I decided to stop and visit some friends for the evening to kill some time and visit since it had been a while since I’d seen them. (My DIL’s parents). And phoned my kids who were still on vacation to see if I could crash at their house for a bit. Of course, they gave me the code and offered their spare bed. So about 8:30-9ish I headed to their house for a few hours.

By then I had gotten another update that she was one the plane but they weren’t moving yet. This was 25 minutes after they were supposed to have taken off! So I told her to just call me when she landed in Spokane.

I managed to sleep on and on for a bit at the kid’s house. I heard my phone ding (when she messaged me the third time) because I think my brain was waiting for the phone ringer sound. She was on the ground and waiting! I jumped up, put my shoes on, grabbed my stuff and sprinted to the airport!

We quickly discussed if we should go back to the kids house and sleep or head home. At that point I was wide awake so we headed for home. We arrived about 4:30 am and crawled into our beds to try and get a little sleep before starting our “day”.

So glad to have my friend here and that the week of craziness it coming to an end.

And I’m so glad for our weekly “rest” day where I can put away the business and bustle of the week and spend it with my Creator, my church family, nature and my critters. I invite you to take tomorrow off and do the same! ❤️
