The other day something happened that made us rethink the noise level around our house. Now, our only near neighbors are our family and they don’t mind our dogs barking. But we sometimes worry about the neighbors down the hill or down the road being bothered by the noise even though they are at least a half mile away. Things echo in the mountains.
The dogs don’t bark all the time. But the big dogs will run up and down the fence and bark at the girls. And the girls reciprocate of course. They’re always noisier when I let them out to potty or when it’s mealtime. And if they’re out in the yard on a nice day and I happen to walk across the yard and they see me, well, they get vocal. “Moms coming! Maybe we get cookies!”
So to decrease the volume around here, hubby dragged out some extra plywood and placed it along the fence line. And honestly, it helped!
Now the girls can’t bark at the big dogs and the big dogs have nothing to harass and I can sneak out to feed the horses without being noticed.
It’s ugly to look at but it’s just a temporary solution anyways. 😉
