I was still tired, the day was drizzly and rainy, but Legend and I loaded up and went to dog class anyway. I’m glad we did.
When we got to the fairgrounds where class is held, I was disappointed to see the pig barn door wasn’t open. Sometimes when it rains they allow us to work in there.
Thankfully after I pulled into a parking space, the dog trainer walked up to my window and said we would go into the cow barn. Yeah! We don’t have to work in the rain.
I never know how a young dog will act the first time at dog class. Legend is a very wiggly, active and sometimes talkative Cavalier. So I thought he would react and bark at the other dogs and this whole new situation. Granted, my dogs don’t get off the farm very much.
But as we walked into this big metal building full of parked vehicles and strange dogs, he was more curious than anything. And I didn’t hear a peep out of him. His tail wagged most of the time in a friendly fashion. I was so happy with his reaction and demeanor in this strange new environment.

There were seven dogs at class (well, eight counting the teacher’s demo dog, a fox terrier); a German Shepherd, a very barky, reactive Australian Cattle dog, two quiet, shy Golden Retrievers, a cute little terrier, chihuahua looking mix and a wiggly, bouncy, playful four-month-old German Wire-hair Pointer and Legend.
We had a fairly small area to work in as the building was filled with vehicles that had been parked inside for the winter. And the ground was very fine dirt. So with all those feet moving around it did get very dusty, very fast. *cough.
Thankfully, towards the last bit of class the rain stopped and we were able to go outside and finish up. It was so nice to be out in the fresh air!

I’m excited to have this weekly training time with Legend!
