I loaded Lyric’s pups up late this morning in preparation of leaving for their early afternoon vet appointment. I had a wire crate in the truck still from delivering Sage’s pups on Sunday so they went in there. Little did I know that when I slid the door latch into the receiver part to lock the door, it missed and only looked like I had secured it.
We headed down the driveway and onto the road. I was just a few miles from home and chatting with a friend on the phone (hands free, no worries) when I noticed some movement out of the corner of my or maybe I heard something first. I turned my head and there were two adorable, adventurous puppies on loose on the back seat looking over the center console at me! How did that happen?
I found a place that was safe to pull off, got out and cautiously opened the back door to find Sophia and I think Dorothy (I honestly don’t remember because I was trying to quickly scoop them up and get them safely back in the crate. But I do remember it was a blond/apricot pup!) And this time I careful latched the crate to make sure it was in place!
We arrived at the vet just in time to let the pups have a quick potty break. Then it was inside to see the doctor.
Rosie looks like she just got out of bed!🤣

Four out of five, not bad.
Stan, why are you eating the crate?

Peek-a-boo Dorothy.

Big brother went first.
Dorothy was next.
She thought the doctor might need a kiss.

Waiting their turn.
Good girl, Blanche.

Hold still, Rose.

Hmmm…doc is trying to make Rosie a pocket puppy. 😉

You look so serious, Sophia.
They did amazing and did their best to charm everyone with their cuteness! (Which isn’t hard).
I had a few short errands to run in town afterwards so they quietly waiting in their crate with some lunch while scurried in and out of each place.
Then it was home, where I turned them loosed in their play area and headed downstairs.
I could hear them playing upstairs. And then they got really noisy, barking and barking which isn’t normally the way they play.
A while later I heard the sound of something crashing or falling…..so I went upstairs to investigate what it could have been.
And do you know what I found?
As I neared the top of the stairs there were four little curious faces peeking at me from the landing, wiggly bodies at a standstill. Until, they saw it was me. “Hi, mom!”..wiggle, wiggle.
Those little rascals had somehow pushed open the part of the exercise pen that I had clipped to their puppy pen and escaped. (I hadn’t clipped the clip low enough and they could push the bottom out.) They had probably been happily romping around up there loose for sometime. That’s probably what the barking was about, some were in the pen and some were on the outside. I don’t know who the culprit was who found the escape route, but when I found them, it was all the girls on the outside and poor Stan was still in the pen.
I scooped them all up and placed them back where they belonged and readjusted the clip. It’s been quiet ever since.

Oh my ~ what an adventure! Those 4 are adorable making me wish I was on the list again. I showed Zoe (aka Pam) the photos and I think she wishes she could have a playmate too! Thanks for sharing the photos and the fun!
😀
They are getting big and furry! Counting the days!❤️🐶
