Winter’s babies are four weeks old today. They are so stinking’ cute too. I just love this age! They are starting to interact with each other; chewing, pawing, growling and doing little baby barks. It’s adorable. Of course, they still do a lot of eating and sleeping.  But when I open the puppy pen to let Winter out, they are more awake and want to know what’s going on.

I just saw them tasting mom’s kibble today. I did notice one of them checking out the dish a couple days ago, so I started to soak her food so it would be ready when they wanted to try their first nibbles.

I’m working on posting some short videos that I’ll share on our YouTube channel (Pinewood Kennels Cavapoos) later today. And I’ll try to share more of them this week since we have puppy matching day one week from today!

Also, towards the end of the week, I’ll do a blog post and share what I see so far with each puppy (wavy or curly coat, eye color, approximate adult size, personality, etc) so those that are on the matching list will have as much info as possible.

Oh, and just a note of explanation before I share their four-week-old “portraits”. You may notice that those with white faces look a little reddish/pink in color (and a bit messy since they just ate and mom washed their faces before pictures!) When puppies are young, mom cleans them up and her saliva will turn the hair a reddish/pink. You might have noticed sometime if you have ever had a white dog, and one paw or foot looks a reddish color, that it’s likely been licking that paw. That’s from the dog’s saliva. So please excuse the freshly, cleaned “pink” faces. As the pups get older and mom does less cleaning they will be white again!
