Good stuff

I just wanted to share some easy additives you can add to your dog’s kibble to give it a boost in nutritional value. These are things I find easy to keep on hand.

Since we have chickens this is an easy one for me. Eggs are a great protein, essential amino and fatty acids and vitamins. And most dogs love them! You can add a raw one or soft boiled to their dinner. Some of mine don’t like them raw so I normally boil them. The big dogs love them straight out of the chicken coop!

You can see I buy these buy the case; sardines in water. Make sure they are in water and not oil. Sardines are a great source of Omega 3’s and they have anti-inflammatory properties!

Kefir is full of probiotics for good gut health. Just a small amount (1 teaspoon to 1 Tablespoon depending on the size of your dog) added to the food daily can be a great addition.

This was a recent addition; freeze-dried blueberries. Some of my dogs will leave fresh blueberries behind in their bowl. But these freeze-dried berries has all the nutritional value as fresh but have that “crunch” that dogs enjoy. And they will last longer that a box of fresh berries in the refrigerator. Blueberries are reich in antioxidants, vitamins C & K and fiber.

Of course, there are lots of other fruits, vegetables and other great food you can add to your dog’s diet to improve their health, but these are just four things that I have found are easy to have around and add to my dog’s food for added nutritional benefits.

Bon Appétit doggos!
