On Wednesday, Casanova had his vet check-up. He was going to be the only passenger with me, but we ended up adding another animal.
On Monday, I noticed that Ben’s right eye looked red. But he has very hooded eyes and I didn’t take the time to go pull back the lids to get a better look. Unfortunately a stomach bug hit me instead that day so I forgot about his eye. By Tuesday evening I was better and remember to take a closer look at Ben’s eye. It was definitely red in the corner but it wasn’t like bloodshot or an ulcerate cornea, this red spot was inside his eyeball!
I went inside and messaged my vet to see if she could check her schedule when she got to work the next morning and hopefully be able to squeeze Casanova and Ben in together. Thankfully, she could.
So Wednesday, I loaded up one of the littlest canines on the farm and the biggest. Casanova rode in a smaller than usual crate so Ben could have the rest of the back seat.
a new puppy carrier😂
he thinks he’s part cat
Casanova was perfect for his exam and passed with flying colors!

I have to tell you what happened though. Have you all heard of Murphy’s law? Well, it applies to puppies too. Whenever you know you have to take a puppy or a litter in for a check-up and fecal exam, they don’t poop!
Casanova got breakfast, second breakfast (some canned food) and lunch, plus we walked the yard and garden for forever before leaving, trying to get a sample. I let him use the litter box before and after the appointment and the vet even tried to…um…fish for a little bit, but to no avail! That puppy was not giving us anything! So Casanova is one puppy in a long, long time that didn’t get a stool sample checked before heading home. But it wasn’t for lack of trying! The little stinker.
Next was Ben’s turn. The tech even gave him his own rug to stay on because the floor is so slick. Then she and the doctor got down on the floor to exam his eye. After a thorough exam and some testing, it was determined that he needed to see a specialist. There’s a chance that he has some type of tumor/cancer within his eyeball. It doesn’t appear to be painful at this point, but he was put on some steroid drops to hopefully help with inflammation within the eye.

So think good thoughts for Ben. He has an appointment with the specialist in Spokane at the end of the month.
And Casanova is off on his own adventure today to meet his new mom!❤️
