Well, things has been busy and I’ve been keeping a secret from you guys!
We have new puppies, but they’re not Cavapoos. Shiloh has presented us with her first litter; a small litter of purebred Cavalier King Charles Spaniel puppies. (I found a nice, local dog to breed her too). They are all blenheim. There are two boys and one girl.
I prayed that there would be at least one nice boy and one nice girl for me to keep. Now I have two boys to pick from! Hoping and praying that they are just right and pass all the requirements to become part of our future breeding program.
I may know around seven or eight weeks which boy I will keep or I may keep both until they are older and then decide. Anyways, there will likely be a boy available down the road sometime. I’m just not sure when.
By the time one of the boys is about 18 months old, I should be then able to retire Asher. And by then Dickens will likely no longer be producing. He’ll be senior citizen. Dickens will retire here with me, but I will eventually find Asher a retirement home with a nice family. He’s such a sweet dog, but really lacks the confidence to be a great stud dog. So I’m really hoping that one of these little chunks can fill those big shoes/paws of its predecessors.
With dog breeding you always have to think ahead a couple years as dogs retire and others grow up to fill the gap.
Shiloh is being a great first-time mom. She had a bit of a difficult delivery as two of the three came out backwards. And the first boy was huge! But she powered through (with a bit of help from me on that first chunk) and got things done.
