Adventuring

The puppies love their play area in the garden, but I wanted them to expand their horizons and explore farther. So I opened up the play area and we went for a walk around the garden. We walked all over, through the rows of veggies and around and through the raised beds. Boy, did they think that was great! Some of them even thought the carrot tops were pretty fun to taste!

Next we headed over to meet the chickens. I have a large shade cloth on the chicken pen fence to help shade them from the afternoon sun, but I lifted that up so the puppies could go under it and meet the flock.

And then of course, they had to go over and say hi to Cody and Cajsa when I opened the garden gate for the big dogs to greet the puppies.

I’m fortunate that Cajsa does so well with little puppies all around her feet and face. It’s a good introduction for the puppies to meet a nice, much bigger dog than themselves. Just all part of puppy socializing.

The also got to meet their “cousins”. I won’t let them meet without something (like the crate door between them) as the Cavaliers would be too rough.

Speaking of socializing, here’s a neat visual that explains a bit what puppy socializing entails.
