Just to update everyone since I haven’t been posting a lot lately, because there’s not a lot to post about yet.
Since we’ve had a few adults retire over the past year or so, we are down on our number of moms and dads that are able to produce our adorable Cavapoos.
And what happens when you only have a handful of intact girls hanging out together? Well, they do things tighter. Yes, they sometimes start cycling together. No, not riding bicycles. š Their heat cycles start coordinating! Oh me, oh my! GIRLS!!!
Which also means the poor boys have lost their senses! They can’t think straight and don’t listen very well to me when there are all these attractive girls so close by….lol! It’s a good thing we have strong fences to separate them when they are out to exercise and also in the dog house.
So far this winter in an eight-week stretch, I’ve had Winter, then Sasha, then Indy, then Lyric, then Cami came in season! The only mom left is Shiloh! Thankfully she “hopefully” won’t be in season until springtime according to my records.
Now of course, I didn’t breed all those girls.
I did breed Winter but for some reason she didn’t get pregnant. š That would’ve been our first litter of 2025.
And I did breed Sasha, who is due at the end of this month! I’m pretty sure she is pregnant, but she has just a tiny tummy pooch. So unless her belly does some major growing in the next couple weeks, that will not be a small litter. And I will likely keep a puppy from this combo since so many of my moms have retired or are getting close to retirement.
As for the rest of those girls, I’ll have news later when/if I have news to share about them. *wink
I’m just super excited for our first litter of 2025 to arrive! How about you?
