Sunday we said a bittersweet farewell to two of our sweet adult girls; mother and daughter pair, Sky and Summer.
It’s always difficult to say good-bye to our adults. Most grow up here and I get quite attached. But I know it’s in their best interest (even though it’s a transition for them) to go and be someone’s special pet and companion then to stay here and just be part of our big pack! They so deserved the spoiling and pampering and one-on-one attention that they receive in retirement.
As you might recall in a previous post two of Summer’s brothers went to two couples who were good friends. Unfortunately, one of those pair moved far away. The other brother was lonely for his littemate as they spent lots of time playing together. So his family reached out to me about Summer and we set things up for her to join their family!
Just a few days later a man who was referred to us by one of our Poodle families, reached out very interested in Sky. We messaged back and forth for a few days, talked on the phone and decided Sky would be a good fit for he and his wife.
And they both were able to make the drive to Spokane on Sunday to pick-up the girls. And the family that moved away joined us on FaceTime to see it all transpire. It was like a mini family reunion! I saw Summer’s brother (and Sky’s son) on FaceTime. The other brother was there to pick up his sister (and hopefully new best friend) and see his mom again! He was so sweet and seemed more excited to see me again, then Sky…lol

Sweet Summer
Sky meeting her new “dad”
He has Poodles in the past and lost his last one a couple years ago. He was thrilled to adopt Sky!
An update later from their motel room. Summer cozying up with her new “dad”.
And later Sky enjoying her beautiful new yard.

Happy retirement girls! I’ll miss your sweet silliness🥹❤️
