The past week or so has been tiring. With Lyric dragging out her pregnancy then finally delivering, to anxiously hovering over Cami, I’m seriously tired. And tonight I’m supposed to start dog class….We’ll see if that actually happens. 😉
Cami’s temperature dropped on Saturday morning and she was shivering (first stage of labor). So of course, I stayed home from church and kept a close eye on her all day. She was restless, but hadn’t advanced into hard labor by bedtime. Of course, I slept (or tried) on the couch next to her all night. I got up a couple times to let her out to potty when she wanted out. Then we’d return and try to rest some more.
Towards four-thirty in the morning things started to seriously progress. Finally. The first one sometimes takes a while because it always seems to be the biggest. And if “Murphy’s Law” is in effect that day, it will also come out backwards. Which is exactly what happened!
So after all the effort to get the first pup out, I was thinking she would be like Lyric and take a long break before number two made its appearance. But instead she delivered the first four puppies within a half an hour! Then she took about an hour break and delivered the fifth and final pup!
It’s interesting that Cami’s other two litters were both four puppies; three apricots and one black and tan. So I kind of expected at least one black and tan in the bunch but instead she added to the number and had all apricot!

(The girls have the orange, yellow and teal ribbons. The boys are in red and green. In the picture green is hiding under orange. It was hard to get a good picture because they all were trying to cuddle in together.)
We have five gorgeous apricots of different shades; three girls and two boys. It’s such a nice litter! Of course that first boy was the biggest at 9.6 ounces! But the rest were also 8+ ounces each also. And at their first weight check on Monday morning they had all gained weight. Good job, Cami!
So if you’re on our waiting list and interested in this litter (They are F1b Cavapoos) please shoot me an email (pinewoodcavapoos@gmail.com) and I’ll add you to the litter list for matching day. Please make sure you are able to chat on the phone that Sunday (May 11th) or if you’re busy let me know and we can make other arrangements. And that you are ready and able to meet in Spokane on Sunday June 1st to pick up your puppy!
