Dog class this week had some beautiful weather! Which means we stayed out of the dusty cow barn and worked in the grassy field. The grass is thick and was recently mowed so I did have a little bit of issue with Legend wanting to keep his nose down to the ground and lag behind a bit as we worked. There were apparently too many good smells there. I just have to do a lot of encouraging as we walk to keep his attention on me, and going forward.

But other than that he did well. We worked on heeling, sit/stay, down, and the first part of a recall.
Working on “down”
There’s also an old fire lookout tower on the grounds so we practiced going up and down the first set of stairs. He has done stairs at home, but these are open between each one and he wasn’t so sure about that space. After much coaxing and encouraging he still wouldn’t go up. So I carried him to the first landing and we practiced going down which he did just fine. We’ll have to work so more on open stairs.
