That’s right, Sky has given birth!
Her temperature dropped on Tuesday night and she was a bit more restless than usual. Then in the middle of the night a strange noise woke me up. (I figure out later it was Sky. When she would have a contraction she would do this low sort of howl). I checked on her and saw nothing obvious so went back to sleep.
Just before 5:00 am she woke me again with more of her low howling, this time in more frequent episodes. So I knew labor was getting more intense. Poor girl pushed and pushed.
Finally at 6:30 a big, fat puppy emerged. It was 10.4 ounces! No wonder the poor girl had to work so hard and why it took so long.
The next three came at 7:10, 7:35 and 7:55.
Nobody was close to the first guy’s weight. In fact his brother, (born last) was almost half is weight at 5.4 ounces.
The two girls came in between the two boys and weighed more in the normal range at 7.2 and 8.8 ounces. All are the beautiful blenheim color that we expected.

The boys

The girls.

These beauties will be matched with families on our Cavapoo waiting list on Sunday, March 27th. And they are scheduled to go home on Easter Sunday, April 17th.
Adorable pups! I love the story telling you offer in your blog. It’s exciting to watch the litter from just born to delivery day. Honestly it’s a fun blog even if you aren’t looking to adopt. I thought I might suggest famous African American poet names for this litter in honor of Black History month AND a touch of poetry from Valentine’s Day. =)
Maya (Angelou), Langston (Hughes), Gwendolyn (Brooks) and Claude (McKay).
