Just thought I’d take a few minutes to check-in with everyone and catch you up to speed.

If you missed it, we decided to retire from breeding Cavapoos.

It was a bittersweet decision, but it seemed to be the right time to switch gears for us. A lot of our moms were at or reaching retirement age and we only had a couple up-and-coming youngsters to carry on.

Then there’s that adorable grandson of ours who will soon be turning two years old. We’re enjoying spending time with him and all of our kids whenever we can. When we were breeding it limited how often we could sneak away for family events. Now it’s much easier.

My dear sister-in-law still dog sits for us when we go visiting (or my neighbor/friend). And it’s so much easier when we don’t have to worry about the timing of breeding dogs, expecting litters or having puppies around to tend to. (Although I so miss the sweet puppies!!)

And happy news…we have a second grand-baby on the way! Our youngest son and his wife are expecting their first child in December! And true to form for the Wood family, it’s another grandson! heehee

The summer has been busy with family gatherings, our big garden, “fire season”…ugh and the dogs.

If you missed it, we had a local fire that kept growing and growing and at one point we were at level three evacuation (which means “leave now”) for several days, without power for about five days and did end up evacuating (the horses to a local boarding stable) and ourselves with the dogs and cats to our local fairgrounds to camp for a couple days. Thankfully, God answered our prayers and the fire did not head rapidly north towards our place as predicted. We are sincerely grateful to the firefighting teams—ground and air—for their hard work in suppressing the fires.

We have said farewell to several special dogs over the summer. This is the hardest part for me; saying good-bye to adults. But if they are young enough and I think they will transition to a new home okay, then I want to give them the opportunity to have their own special family to spoil them.

Asher left in May. (She has one of our Aussaliers and has had a couple other Cavaliers from us).

Indy left in June. (She has a Pinewood brother already!)

Dally left in August. She is much loved already and enjoying life with her new family!

Shiloh and daughter Laney both left this month. (FYI, Shiloh went to live with my friend and fellow Cavapoo breeder Alma at MY CAVAPOOS. So if you are looking for a Cavapoo puppy, I highly recommend you reach out to her for a quality puppy!)

Laney loves people so she instantly hit it off with her new mom!

We have no more Cavapoos available. I did decide to keep one for myself. Winter is enjoying her retirement napping all day with Hope and Reba.
