An added bonus

Sit down, I have a story to tell you.

A few years ago a little black and white Poodle puppy came to live with us. We named her Flower. She grew up and had some beautiful Cavapoo puppies. But her first litter was a litter of purebred Poodles. I kept two lovely girls; Tansy and Hazel. Most of you probably don’t even remember Tansy because even after many attempts she never became a mother for us. She was gorgeous and had been my “pick” puppy out of the litter. Of course, I’m thankful for Hazel too.

A few months ago, I decided to cut down the “pack” a little and offered Flower to a friend that is doing some small scale puppy raising in her home (adorable Yorkie-poos). At the last minute I told her about Tansy and how we’d tried her with different boys; natural and AI breedings and she just never got pregnant. (I had debated if I should take her to a repro specialist, but decided not to).  I said, “if she gets pregnant, you can pay me for her” (or she’d have a nice pet). I wasn’t real worried. I knew she’d have a great home, but honestly didn’t expect to get paid.

Well, guess who showed up again? Murphy. Remember him? He comes around our place on a regular basis. His full name is “Murphy’s Law”. 😛

No sooner did the girls get settled into their new home, then Tansy came in season and took a liking to my friend’s sweet apricot boy. And.she.got.pregnant. *shakes head* I guess she was waiting for the perfect guy! 😉

So as payment for Tansy, I got her puppy! (I know, you all think I’m a little nuts by now! It’s okay, I sometimes think I am too.)

But he’s just perfect! He’s a tricolor (or in Poodle language a black phantom parti), adorable, well-socialized already and passed his first baby physical with flying colors!  Hopefully, someday he will produced a variety of colors with our girls (apricot included!) and step up to take Sundae’s place when he retires.

The only bad thing about introducing a new puppy into the home is we always quarantine them before introducing them to the rest of the crew.

So hubby has been his caretaker while I’ve been the main person taking care of all the new pups, moms and other dogs. We sent up a playpen in the garage with the wood stove going so he has a cozy place to hang out.

I opened the garage door from the laundry room the other day and saw this. <3 Hubby had gotten out the summer lounge chair and was watching videos as puppy perched on his lap. Hubby has been really good about giving him extra attention while is isolated. (But by the time you read this, he will be playing with Lyric and Asher. I sometimes write blog posts ahead of time and schedule them to post later).

So after all these years starting with Flower, then Tansy (and having nothing from her), I consider this little guy an added bonus!

So everyone, let me introduce you to “Pinewoods Added Bonus” aka Bonus or Bo for short.

(Haircut coming soon!)
