I can’t pass up a cute chick!

I’m a sucker, what can I say. I walked into my favorite farm supply store last week to pick up some chicken feed for my current flock and of course had to wander past the chick set-up. Who doesn’t like to watch fluffy little chicks running around peeping and scratching away like the adult version?

If you’re not familiar with the process, every spring local feed stores have brand-new chicks shipped in from poultry suppliers and made available. Lots of folks like to have their own flock of chickens and raise their own eggs. Some people are just starting out with a few chickens and some add onto their flocks each year this way.

As I mentioned, we have a small flock and some are getting older and not laying as much anymore. But I really wasn’t planning on getting any chicks at the moment.

But that gal sure was a good salesperson! And she didn’t have to even twist my arm very hard! πŸ˜›

Somehow these two little boxes ended up in my shopping cart! (I don’t know what happened? *shrugs shoulders and looks surprised ;P )

So much fuzzy, little cuteness!

So now, not only do I have three litters of puppies in my living room (Joy and her crew moved upstairs), but a bunch of cute chicks!

P.S. This breed is called Cinnamon Queen and will lay brown eggs.

When I was young I did many of the things you’re doing, it brought me great joy. I know smile when I read your posts thanks for brightening my day

Jennifer, you did it for the dogs! They love it when there are too many eggs and you need to get rid of some by making up a big batch of eggs! It had nothing to do with their fuzzy cuteness, or that you love babies in all forms. It was for the dogs, really! πŸ˜‰
